Just got laid off, what should I do first? - what worked for you?

I lost my job as a barista and I am not sure what to do first. There are 15 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I have a few weeks of savings and a rent payment due.

File for unemployment right away. Do not wait for severance decisions. The date you file can matter.
