Just got laid off, what should I do first? - what worked for you?

I was let go as a forklift operator this week and I am still in shock. I have not told my family yet. Which steps were urgent?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 10 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
