Just got laid off, what should I do first? - what worked for you?

I was let go as a software tester this week and I am still in shock. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I have not told my family yet. What did you do in the first week?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

Ask for your final pay, unused leave and any documents in writing before you leave, if you still can.
