Just got laid off, what should I do first? - what worked for you?

I lost my job as a teaching assistant and I am not sure what to do first. There are 5 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I have a few weeks of savings and a rent payment due. Is there a checklist I should follow?

Ask for your final pay, unused leave and any documents in writing before you leave, if you still can.
