Just got laid off, what should I do first? - what worked for you?

They called a meeting on Wednesday and 16 of us were let go. I had been there 16 years. Thank you in advance. I have a few weeks of savings and a rent payment due. Is there a checklist I should follow?

File for unemployment right away. Do not wait for severance decisions. The date you file can matter.
