Just got laid off, what should I do first? - what worked for you?

They called a meeting on Tuesday and 12 of us were let go. I had been there 12 years. Any experience at all would help. I have not told my family yet. Is there a checklist I should follow?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
