Just got laid off, what should I do first? (update)

I was let go as a school bus driver this week and I am still in shock. There are 6 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I have a box of my things and a short letter about benefits.

Give yourself the first couple of days to be upset. I did, and then I felt able to plan.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
