Just got laid off, what should I do first? (update)

They called a meeting on Wednesday and 4 of us were let go. I had been there 4 years. I have been trying to stay organised about it. I have not told my family yet. Which steps were urgent?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
