Just got laid off, what should I do first? (update)

I lost my job as a school bus driver and I am not sure what to do first. There are 5 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I have a few weeks of savings and a rent payment due. Is there a checklist I should follow?

File for unemployment right away. Do not wait for severance decisions. The date you file can matter.
