Just got laid off, what should I do first? (update)

They called a meeting on Thursday and 15 of us were let go. I had been there 15 years. I am in San Diego, in case local advice matters. I have a box of my things and a short letter about benefits. Which steps were urgent?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

Give yourself the first couple of days to be upset. I did, and then I felt able to plan.
