Just got laid off, what should I do first? (Hartford)

They called a meeting on Monday and 14 of us were let go. I had been there 14 years. I have a box of my things and a short letter about benefits. What did you do in the first week?

I made a short list: benefits, bills, documents, and then my résumé. One thing each day kept me steady.

Give yourself the first couple of days to be upset. I did, and then I felt able to plan.
