Just got laid off, what should I do first? - any advice?

They called a meeting on Wednesday and 13 of us were let go. I had been there 13 years. I have not told my family yet. What did you do in the first week?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.

Ask for your final pay, unused leave and any documents in writing before you leave, if you still can.
