Just got laid off, what should I do first? - any advice?

I was let go as a welding apprentice this week and I am still in shock. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I have a box of my things and a short letter about benefits. Which steps were urgent?

Give yourself the first couple of days to be upset. I did, and then I felt able to plan.

Ask for your final pay, unused leave and any documents in writing before you leave, if you still can.
