Just got laid off, what should I do first? - any advice?

I was let go as a medical assistant this week and I am still in shock. Any experience at all would help. I have a few weeks of savings and a rent payment due. What did you do in the first week?

Ask for your final pay, unused leave and any documents in writing before you leave, if you still can.
