Just got laid off, what should I do first? after 6 years as a nurse's aide

They called a meeting on Tuesday and 6 of us were let go. I had been there 6 years. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I have a few weeks of savings and a rent payment due. Which steps were urgent?

File for unemployment right away. Do not wait for severance decisions. The date you file can matter.
