Just got laid off, what should I do first? after 5 years as an electrician's helper

I was let go as an electrician's helper this week and I am still in shock. Any experience at all would help. I have not told my family yet.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
