Just got laid off, what should I do first? after 14 years as a dental hygienist

They called a meeting on Tuesday and 14 of us were let go. I had been there 14 years. I do not usually post, so bear with me. I have a box of my things and a short letter about benefits. What did you do in the first week?

File for unemployment right away. Do not wait for severance decisions. The date you file can matter.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
