Just got laid off, what should I do first?

I lost my job as a medical assistant and I am not sure what to do first. It has been a long 11 weeks. I have a few weeks of savings and a rent payment due. Which steps were urgent?

Give yourself the first couple of days to be upset. I did, and then I felt able to plan.

Ask for your final pay, unused leave and any documents in writing before you leave, if you still can.
