Just got laid off, what should I do first? - 9 months and counting

They called a meeting on Tuesday and 8 of us were let go. I had been there 8 years. I worked as an office manager before this. I have a box of my things and a short letter about benefits. Is there a checklist I should follow?

File for unemployment right away. Do not wait for severance decisions. The date you file can matter.
