Just got laid off, what should I do first?

They called a meeting on Wednesday and 7 of us were let go. I had been there 7 years. Any experience at all would help. I have a box of my things and a short letter about benefits. Is there a checklist I should follow?

I made a short list: benefits, bills, documents, and then my résumé. One thing each day kept me steady.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 11 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
