Just got laid off, what should I do first?

They called a meeting on Friday and 15 of us were let go. I had been there 15 years. Any experience at all would help. I have not told my family yet. Which steps were urgent?

Ask for your final pay, unused leave and any documents in writing before you leave, if you still can.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
