Just got laid off, what should I do first? - 6 months and counting

They called a meeting on Tuesday and 12 of us were let go. I had been there 12 years. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I have a box of my things and a short letter about benefits. Is there a checklist I should follow?

File for unemployment right away. Do not wait for severance decisions. The date you file can matter.
