Just got laid off, what should I do first? - 2 months and counting

I was let go as a project coordinator this week and I am still in shock. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I have not told my family yet. Which steps were urgent?

File for unemployment right away. Do not wait for severance decisions. The date you file can matter.
