Just got laid off, what should I do first? - 13 months and counting

I lost my job as a bookkeeper and I am not sure what to do first. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I have a few weeks of savings and a rent payment due. What did you do in the first week?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 13 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
