Industry layoffs, what are people doing? - what worked for you?

Three companies in Phoenix cut staff in the same month. I do not usually post, so bear with me. I have transferable skills but no direct experience elsewhere.

I moved into operations work. The skills carried over and there were more openings than in my old field.
