Industry layoffs, what are people doing? - what worked for you?

Many of the people I know in my field were laid off this year, including me as a home health aide. I am in Omaha, in case local advice matters. The postings I see are fewer and ask for more. Which areas are hiring?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 12 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

I moved into operations work. The skills carried over and there were more openings than in my old field.
