Industry layoffs, what are people doing? - what worked for you?

Many of the people I know in my field were laid off this year, including me as an event coordinator. I do not usually post, so bear with me. The postings I see are fewer and ask for more. How did you choose?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
