Industry layoffs, what are people doing? (update)

Three companies in Wichita cut staff in the same month. There are 6 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. The postings I see are fewer and ask for more. Which areas are hiring?

I moved into operations work. The skills carried over and there were more openings than in my old field.
