Industry layoffs, what are people doing? (update)

Many of the people I know in my field were laid off this year, including me as a customer-service rep. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. The postings I see are fewer and ask for more.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
