Industry layoffs, what are people doing? (update)

Many of the people I know in my field were laid off this year, including me as an administrative assistant. I am in Knoxville, in case local advice matters. I am open to a pay cut if the field is stable. Who has switched fields?

Look at job postings to see which skills repeat, then fill the gap. That gave me a direction.

A short certificate helped me more than a new degree would have. Check what local colleges offer.
