Industry layoffs, what are people doing? (update)

Many of the people I know in my field were laid off this year, including me as a hotel front-desk agent. I do not usually post, so bear with me. I am open to a pay cut if the field is stable.

A short certificate helped me more than a new degree would have. Check what local colleges offer.

Talk to people in the field you are considering. Two coffee chats changed my mind about one option.
