Industry layoffs, what are people doing?, IT help-desk technician here

Many of the people I know in my field were laid off this year, including me as an IT help-desk technician. I worked as an IT help-desk technician before this. I have transferable skills but no direct experience elsewhere. Which areas are hiring?

Talk to people in the field you are considering. Two coffee chats changed my mind about one option.
