Industry layoffs, what are people doing?

Three companies in Sacramento cut staff in the same month. I worked as a copywriter before this. I am open to a pay cut if the field is stable. Which areas are hiring?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 8 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
