Industry layoffs, what are people doing? after 9 years as a line cook

Our sector has been shrinking and I am unsure if I should wait it out. Any experience at all would help. I am open to a pay cut if the field is stable. Who has switched fields?

Look at job postings to see which skills repeat, then fill the gap. That gave me a direction.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 3 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
