Industry layoffs, what are people doing? after 17 years as a copywriter

Three companies in Denver cut staff in the same month. There are 17 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. The postings I see are fewer and ask for more. Which areas are hiring?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
