Industry layoffs, what are people doing? after 10 years as a graphic designer

Three companies in Raleigh cut staff in the same month. I have been trying to stay organised about it. I have transferable skills but no direct experience elsewhere. How did you choose?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
