Industry layoffs, what are people doing? - 9 months and counting

Many of the people I know in my field were laid off this year, including me as an event coordinator. I worked as an event coordinator before this. I have transferable skills but no direct experience elsewhere. Which areas are hiring?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 9 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
