Industry layoffs, what are people doing? - 8 months and counting

Three companies in Birmingham cut staff in the same month. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I am open to a pay cut if the field is stable. How did you choose?

Look at job postings to see which skills repeat, then fill the gap. That gave me a direction.
