Industry layoffs, what are people doing?

Many of the people I know in my field were laid off this year, including me as a graphic designer. There are 14 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I am open to a pay cut if the field is stable. Who has switched fields?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
