Industry layoffs, what are people doing?

Three companies in Seattle cut staff in the same month. The postings I see are fewer and ask for more. Which areas are hiring?

I moved into operations work. The skills carried over and there were more openings than in my old field.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
