Industry layoffs, what are people doing?

Many of the people I know in my field were laid off this year, including me as a machine operator. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I am open to a pay cut if the field is stable. Who has switched fields?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
