Industry layoffs, what are people doing? - 2 months and counting

Three companies in Detroit cut staff in the same month. I am in Detroit, in case local advice matters. I have transferable skills but no direct experience elsewhere.

I moved into operations work. The skills carried over and there were more openings than in my old field.
