Industry layoffs, what are people doing? - 10 months and counting

Three companies in Chicago cut staff in the same month. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I am open to a pay cut if the field is stable. Which areas are hiring?

I moved into operations work. The skills carried over and there were more openings than in my old field.
