How do I tell my family about the layoff? - what worked for you?

I was laid off 10 weeks ago and have not told my family because I do not want them to worry. I am in Omaha, in case local advice matters. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team. How did you handle it?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 3 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
