How do I tell my family about the layoff?, welding apprentice here

I was laid off 25 weeks ago and have not told my family because I do not want them to worry. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I want a plan before I speak. How did you handle it?

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
