How do I tell my family about the layoff? (update)

I have been leaving the house at the same time each day so my kids do not notice. I worked as a machine operator before this. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team. Did it get easier afterwards?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
