How do I tell my family about the layoff? (Tucson)

I was laid off 7 weeks ago and have not told my family because I do not want them to worry. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team. Did it get easier afterwards?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
