How do I tell my family about the layoff? - first time posting

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a forklift operator. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I want a plan before I speak. What did you say?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
