How do I tell my family about the layoff? - first time posting

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a machine operator. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I want a plan before I speak. Did it get easier afterwards?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
