How do I tell my family about the layoff? - first time posting

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as an electrician's helper. I worked as an electrician's helper before this. I want a plan before I speak. How did you handle it?

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.
